Think of a time when life was so terrible that you felt dead and just wanted it to be a dream. Several people in the book Night, by Elie Wiesel go through many terrible experiences, and are beaten alive while trying to survive the concentration camps during the Holocaust. In the world today, there are many tragedies that happen every single day such as earthquakes, tornadoes, and fires, where people lose friends, families, homes and their valuables. The theme “Emotional Death is very evident in the book night by Elie Wiesel, and is still very evident in the world today.
The first example from Night of the theme “Emotional Death” is when Moishe was trying to warn others about the concentration camps, but no one would listen. Moishe the Beadle had just escaped from an concentration camp, he waited to warn others what was happening, if they would just had been attentive to him, thousands of Jews lives would had been saved. “I no longer cared to live. I am alone. But I wanted to come back to warn you. Only no one is listening to me…” (Moishe the Beadle 7). There is a huge significance about this quote, if he would and others just listened to him, Elie 's family would still be alive, but because they didn’t believe him, many thousands of Jews were shipped to Auschwitz in cattle cars without much food to live on and were forced to work to make them free.
