In 2012, the FBI statistics revealed that the projected rate of violent crime was 386.9 offenses per 100,000 inhabitants, and property crime rate was 2,859.2 offenses per 100,000 inhabitants. Despite the fact the violent crime rate stayed virtually unchanged when compared to the 2011 rate, the property crime rate declined 1.6 percent. The FBI’s UCR program collects information on crimes reported by law enforcement agencies regarding the violent crimes of murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault as well as the property crimes of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.
A recent interview with a victim of Domestic Violence revealed some useful insights on how police and victim interactions can make or break a person willingness too corporate with the court proceedings. The victim stated that the altercation was between her and her husband and as much as she was upset about him getting arrested she did not wanted to testify at trial. The victim was worried about the hardship and the loss of income that would result from him been convicted of the charging stemming from the domestic dispute. The victim stated her husband is a very nice person but have been suffering from PTSD due to his multiple deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.
