Aging is the natural and inevitable phenomenon of life process. Constantly increasing aging population and increasing in life expectancy rate have brought both challenges and opportunities to nations all over the world. Providing quality old age services to an aging population is a challenge to most of the countries and again nations also want to take benefit of the wisdom, knowledge and skills of an aging population. Developing countries like Nepal has minimal policies that address the health and the physical needs of the elderly. It is the family’s (son and daughter) responsibility to take care of their elderly parents. Education, cultural, social and political aspects plays vital role how people/family perceive aging process and how they improve quality aging. In this paper I do not consider healthy aging is only prolonging of elderly life, but importantly, improving quality of life in their later life. According to WHO “healthy aging is the process of optimizing opportunities for physical, social and mental health to enable older people to take an active part in society without discrimination and to enjoy independent a good life”.
Nepal is a small developing country situated between India and China. Nepal is rich in tradition and culture. Majority of elders lives in their own home with their children.
