We make new relationships everyday, with our classmates, teachers or a stranger in the mall. These kinds of events in our life impact our life because we can either be happy, sad, or angry. In the books “A Separate Peace” and “Little Princes” the events impacted who the characters were when they had to go through a difficult situation, when they are forced to face reality, and form valuable friendship. The book “A Separate Peace” is about two boys at a boarding school during World War II. Gene and Finny, the two boys’ names, have to find a through the guilt, and trauma they were forced through at the school. In the beginning of the book, Gene and Finny made up a club, to start off every meeting Gene and Finny would have to jump off a tree into a lake. This time though Finny made a comment about doing it together. When they got on the tree Gene “took a step towards him, and then my knees bent and I jounced the limb.” (Knowles 60), making Finny fall out of the tree and shattering his leg. This leads to a difficult situation because Finny can never play any sports again, and that’s what Finny is known for, being athletic. Also since he can’t be in any military branch either. This is extremely difficult because after high school, in that time period, that was what you were meant for, to go fight in the military.
